How Shopfitting Can Help Your Retail Business Grow

Shopfitters Sunshine Coast

With Physical Retail Back On The Rise, Shopfitting Will Play An Important Part In The Coming Year

Physical retailers have had a hard time of it, in the new millennium. 2013 saw half as much foot traffic in brick-and-mortar storefronts, according to ShopperTrak. The times they are a-changin’, as they say, as can be seen from the fact that Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, has opened a physical storefront in Seattle, WA.

Whether it’s ease and convenience your customers are after, or the need for community in an increasingly digital world, brick-and-mortar storefronts are ready for a comeback!

Are you ready to capture this new traffic? Shopfitting your sunshine coast business ensures you’re ready to impress, by delivering the ultimate customer experience.

Growing Your Storefront With Custom Shopfitting

While we all may be getting a bit burnt out on e-commerce, online shopping has permanently and irrevocably altered our expectations, when it comes to making purchases. Customers expect an exceptional aesthetic experience, with custom lighting and interior design, which become extensions of your brand identity.

A lot of business owners don’t realize the powerful branding of the physical space. We are sensory beings, after all, and memories associated with sights, sounds, and smells are going to stand out from a bunch of anonymous letters on a screen.

Shopfitters In The Sunshine Coast Can Revitalize Your Physical Storefront By:

      1. Rejuvenating Your Brand Image: The increasing tendency to get out of the house, to go and wander in search of legitimate physical experience means your brick-and-mortar storefront is primed to receive a bunch of fresh eyes and ears. You’ll be welcoming back your loyal customers, as well. A shopfitting overhaul announces to new and old customers alike that you’re back in action, up with the times, and ready for the future.
      2. Pure Class: Customers of all walks of life have come to expect a world-class shopping experience, no matter where they’re going or what they’re doing. We all expect the royal spa treatment, no matter whether we’re buying avocados or a plasma TV. Upgrade your shopfitting to give them the world-class retail experience they crave.
      3. Increase The Amount Of Time Spent In-Store: Customers will want to hang out in your brand-new, elegant storefront all day long. More browsing means more impressions, more brand loyalty, more word-of-mouth referrals and, ultimately, more sales.
      4. Easy Location: We’re all used to being able to find what we want, quickly and immediately, usually without having to ask for help. Anticipate this need with an easy-to-navigate layout that will make your customers feel right at home, even if they don’t know why.

Inside The ASOFIA Interior Fitout Awards 2014 – 2015

Interior Outfit’s inaugural issue focuses on the Australian Shop And Office Fitting Industry Assocation Awards (ASOFIA) for 2014 – 2015.

The National Fitout Of The Year Award went to Melbourne’s Chanel Boutique. The boutique quadrupled their floor space from their previous Collins Street location. The remodel comes courtesy of New York luxury retail designer Peter Marino. The ground floor of the storefront is dedicated to jewelry, handbags, and shoes, while the upstairs is dedicated to ready-to-wear and a private VIP room.

The centerpiece of the fitout has to be a custom-made brass hand railing adjoining a marble staircase beneath a faux skylight over a large scale art piece from Dorothy Napangardi Karlangu, from 2006. Other standout features include luxury lighting from Norm Philips, as well as art pieces, finishes, and fabrics sourced from local artisans. Standard glass shelving features an innovative fine silk resin between sheets of glass, which was also sourced from local craftsmen.

The wall panels also feature an innovative design, being custom-made and hand-painted over a honeycomb design, to prevent warping. Dressing rooms also feature interior as well as exterior chambers, for one-on-one consultations with Chanel employees. All wallpapers were handmade in New York, with every piece being drawn-out and consulted over before hanging.

Redesigning the storefront while interior and exterior building were still going on proved to be the main challenge facing the shopfitters. 5 office workers, 20 factory workers, and 40 shopfitters put in over 11,000 hours to complete the award-winning redesign! The international design team worked extensively to meet local building concerns, with every element of the redesign being drawn out in the shop, down to the millimeter.

Clearly, the effort was worth it, as the jaw-dropping photographs illustrate!

Building Maintenance Can Save You Money, According To Forbes

Business owners are in the business of saving money, by whatever means necessary. This means cutting overhead on monthly expenditures. While a building maintenance program might seem like an additional expense, it is actual a preventive measure that can save you from having to make big payouts down the line.

Highlights From The Forbes Report

While Forbes’ article “How Building Maintenance Saves You Money”, published in August 2014, may be written towards the residential market, the principles still apply for commercial building maintenance in the Sunshine Coast.

The Forbes article is intended to help homeowners decide between renting and buying a property. While it is the accepted wisdom that buying a property is the smarter financial decision, this fails to take into account additional expenses, such as building maintenance.

Forbes reports that financial advisors recommend budgeting 1.5% of your rental budget towards building maintenance. This means that if your rent is $5000 AUD, you should be budgeting $75 AUD a month for upkeep and repairs, or $900 AUD a year. While this may not seem like much, things have a tendency to go wrong all at once. This can leave you with a big repair bill, that you might have to pay out of your pocket.

If you’re renting or leasing your storefront, this might be less of an issue (although it could be a major issue for your landlord). If you’re a landlord, you might want to look into a full-service building maintenance service, and remove the potential for catastrophe down the line.

Other Findings From Forbes Include:

  • People spend $200 annually repairing appliances.
  • Homeowners report spending $362 a year on plumbers.
  • $260 a year gets spent on unclogging drains.
  • Can spend as much as $947 a year replacing flooring!

If this is just for a single family home, imagine what the price tag could be on a major commercial centre!
